The Movement Therapy Diploma

3 year diploma course - become a highly trained Musculoskeletal Therapy Professional

  • Deciding on a professional title can be challenging, especially if you haven't pursued a conventional career path like Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, or Osteopath.

These regulated professions come with specific degree qualifications that grant them membership in recognised Professional Registers (HCPC, GOsC, GCC, etc.), allowing them to use their degree name as their title. However, the scenario differs in the unregulated sector.

We aim to delve deeper into the role and skills of a Movement Therapist, assisting you in determining if it aligns with what you're looking for.

Movement Therapists are experts in restoring mobility and function in individuals impacted by injuries or pain. They employ a combination of movement exercises, hands-on manual therapy, education, and tailored advice all supported by the latest evidence base and most up to date treatment protocols.

    Promote Health Across All Ages

Serving individuals of all age groups, Movement Therapists play a pivotal role in promoting overall health. They aid clients in pain management and in minimising the risk of avoidable health conditions.

    Empowering Client Independence & Longevity

Through their specialised guidance for clients, Movement Therapists foster development and enhance recovery that is tailored to the individual. This not only empowers clients to continue their work/activities but also equips them with strategies to maintain their independence for an extended duration.

    Skills for a career

We heavily focus on the principles of tissue healing, recovery and exercise strategies. This is so that you can adapt as the therapy world changes. Applying core principles to your work as things evolve.

The whole Movement Therapy Diploma (all four phases) includes both the Exercise and Clinical Pathways.

Course Structure:

The course is delivered in phases and the phase access can differ depending on your previous qualifications. There is no ‘cohort’, you can start the course at any point throuighout the year, look at the course timetable and book on to the next dates that suit your availability.

Phase Order: The course is designed to be delivered in phase order: Preparation, Phase One, Phase Two, Phase Three, Phase Four.

As you progress through the phases you will be expected to become more critical and reflective of your own practice and show evidence of implementing earlier modules into your current practice.

Below is a detailed breakdown of each Module, the assessments contained within each module and the expected hours to complete the work required. On average it takes 2.5 years to complete the whole course.

There are 25 modules. 20 days face to face and 100’s of hours of supporting material via our Thinkific portal. For each module you will have lifetime access to every powerpoint, video, poster etc.. even when you finish and we update the material you will still have access. Each face to face day will require at least one day of preparation and another day to complete the required assessments.

  • The preparation phase is a series of online (recorded and live stream) courses to ensure that everyone starts the course with the same basic underpinning knowledge.

It includes: An Introduction to Research Methods, Principles of Exercise, Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and our Live Stream Anatomy lessons - Learn Anatomy Online.

  • This Phase is the preparatory phase. You will learn about communication and note taking skills. You’ll be introduced to the BioPsychoSocial (BPS) model of health care and where Movement Therapists fit in to the model. You’ll also be introduced to the Tissue Healing process as this knowledge underpins the treatment interventions that you’ll be able to deliver as the course progresses.

Phase one doesn’t just finish at phase one - it underpins every other module and we will constantly be referring back to the concepts learnt in phase one throughout the entire course.

  • In this phase you will build on the knowledge gained in Phase one about how to conduct a thorough case history, the tissue healing process and the psychosocial aspects of pain and then add on clinical assessments, regional pathology and early stage exercise and manual therapy for each region of the body

  • In this phase you will build on your clinical skills from the previous two phases and start to look at how to analyse fitness levels and movement capacity so that you can start to provide exercises and advice beyond the basic early stage intervention
