Biomechanics of Exercise

  • The Biomechanics of Exercise is a key underpinning module to help you decide which exercise will be beneficial for your client. We analyse a specific movement throughout the day and ascertain what is happening at every single joint and what every single muscle is doing to enable someone to complete that movement. This knowledge can then help you 3D analyse any movement which is perfect when you need to produce a rehabilitation plan that is specific to an individuals capacity.

    • Analyse the joint action and muscle actions of:

      • Ankle/Foot

      • Knee

      • Hip

      • Spine

      • Shoulder

      • Elbow/Wrist & Hand

    • How to use the analysis results to piece together a bespoke exercise/movement plan

    • Analyse the movement demands of a sport and identify the variables that contribute to performance and injury risk

    • Select exercises and design a training session to meet the demands of a sport

  • No specific assessments for this module. This module forms the underpinning knowledge for the Introduction to Strength & Conditioning and Functional Movement Assessment Modules
