MSK Ultrasound

Under the skin…

We teach you the basic skills required to incorporate MSK ultrasound into your clinical practice and to use it alongside your current clinical reasoning

We will also guide you towards the next steps to further develop your scanning skills. The course is a mixture of lectures, demonstrations and practical workshops. The practical workshops take place in small groups with close supervision from our tutor.

We will first of all introduce you to the Ultrasound machine and the probe and guide you through how to optimise images.

You will cover scanning of:

  • Achilles Tendon

  • Plantar Fascia

  • Medial Knee (Joint line and MCL)

  • Supraspinatus Tendon

  • Subscapularis Tendon

  • Long Head of Biceps Tendon

  • Lateral Elbow

Artefacts

Ultrasound scanning can often throw up some strange anatomical anomalies and these are sometimes completely fictitious! We introduce you to common artefacts so that you will have a better understand of what is real and what has been created by the technology.
