Functional Movement Analysis

  • This module is based on the presentation at the IOC World Conference for Injury Prevention in Monaco by Mike Grice.

At the Olympic Games the physical therapy team for smaller nations do not have the resources to individually complete a movement screen all of their athletes. They have to be selective in who they choose. This module takes you through some gross (whole body) screening and then individual (Joint by Joint) screening to identify movement restrictions that can overload areas of the body.

Yes, the body can adapt and it is possible to adapt to these movement restrictions Sometimes, however, the joint/tissue may be sensitized and an individual may need to offload the area to allow the body to adapt.

This module helps to clear up the problems often faced by therapists - “I have done all of my special tests and they are all negative - what now?…”

This module uses valid and reliable movement testing so that you can create a movement screen for an individual based on their sport or lifestyle.

The greatest mistake in the treatment of diseases is that there are physicians for the body and physicians for the soul, although the two cannot be separated
